Mission vision statement:
To mobilize the American effort for preventing terrorist and other attacks, preparing for disasters, and assuring the resilience of civil society and the critical networks and functions that are essential to preserving a free and prosperous nation. We achieve this by providing active leadership, removing barriers, and providing incentives for the sustained engagement of the American people, the public, private, and non-profit sectors, and our international partners.
Goals:
- Counter terrorists and other malicious actors.
- Protect critical human, physical, and cyber infrastructure and the services they provide.
- Prevent illicit access to and movement of dangerous capabilities and materiel.
- Prevent loss of life and property from natural and manmade hazards (shared goal with Preparing for, Responding to, and Recoving From Disasters).
- Foster a prepared, informed, and empowered citizenry and local communities (shared goal with Preparing for, Responding to, and Recoving From Disasters).
- Build and sustain robust critical systems, networks, and functions.
- Ensure levels of readiness to rapidly respond and recover (shared goal with Preparing for, Responding to, and Recoving From Disasters).
